DIRECTOR OF ARTS, CULTURE & YOUTH VOTE
There was no shortage of extraordinary political and cultural moments during Senator Bernie Sanders’ 2016 run for the White House. An authentic messenger, Sanders invited the American people to join his movement, created a political revolution and inspired an unprecedented number of youth voters to go to the polls – numbers that had never been seen before in the history of our country.
With a career focused at the intersection of youth, culture and politics, Luis Calderin served as Senator Bernie Sanders’ Director of Arts, Culture and the Youth Vote during the presidential campaign. In this role, he was responsible for shaping some of the most memorable moments of the campaign. He helped secure hundreds of surrogates for Senator Sanders, including artists, musicians and cultural leaders committed to representing the interests of young voters. Luis also curated national concerts on the campaign trail, with top music and celebrity talent for venues, arenas and iconic spaces to bolster campaign awareness and drive voter turnout. Additionally, Luis spearheaded a national touring exhibition, curating issue-based art inspired by the political landscape of America.
